We the Media: Grassroots Journalism by the people, for the people
Originally published in 2004 by O’Reilly Media, We the Media has been translated into many languages including Japanese, Chinese (Taiwan only), and Arabic
The book, which is still available for purchase, was published under a Creative Commons license — free to download and share for non-commercial use — and can be found in many places online. I recommend getting it from the wonderful Internet Archive, where you can download it in several digital formats.
Mediactive
Mediactive was published in 2010, and is the foundation of my work in recent years. Like We the Media it is available for a free download under a Creative Commons License. The book has been translated into many languages, most recently Ukrainian and Burmese.
“Mediactive: How to participate in our digital world” is a free online course, aimed at adults, from the News Co/Lab. It’s available in English and Spanish and is offered through ASU Online.
