I have jury duty next week.
Covid is running rampant in the Bay Area, and I’m at higher risk.
I will wear a mask, and attempt to distance myself from others. (I wear a mask in all indoor settings.)
I revere jury duty (though I’ve never made it past voir dire). But it absolutely sucks that crowded jury rooms don’t have mask mandates.
Masks aren’t perfect (or close to perfect) protection. But they are vastly, vastly better than nothing.
Please wear a mask in crowded indoor settings.

You might want to clarify that people should get masks which are N95 or KN95 or better, and that fit is important. It’s possible some people are still using surgical masks or even cloth masks, which are far inferior.
N95 masks could be found really cheap over the last year in clearance sales, as the pandemic stockpiles are being sold off. For someone on a tight budget or frugal, buying N95 masks which are recently expired is a great deal, since the filter material doesn’t seem to go bad for at least a decade (take care with the straps).
It’s a shame masking got politicized. In an ideal world, wearing a mask would be considered like sunglasses, or maybe sunscreen. That is – just being descriptive – not a political declaration, instead of regarded as a liberal version of a flag lapel pin (i.e. the tribal marker Badge Of Being A Good Person).
